Daniele Buetti: Will Beauty Save the World?

Fashion provides an ideal starting point for a discussion surrounding the omnipresent power of the media in general. Daniele Buetti simultaneously deconstructs and reconstructs the symbols and icons of our society, highlighting the ways the mass media defines the standards of modern beauty and shapes our identities. Buetti’s large-scale installations are defined by the tension between beauty and monstrosity, opposing factors that are seamlessly united, providing depth to the overall pattern. He presents us with the flip side of what we are typically exposed to by the mass media, mostly flash with little substance.
